The UA-IX Internet traffic exchange network is a branch of the UIA set up on the basis of the network operating since August 2000, and inheriting the same name.

The purpose of setting up the UA-IX is to provide maximal connectivity for the networks of Ukrainian providers and to organize effective exchange of traffic between them taking the shortest routes, without the need to access foreign networks. Participants of the UA-IX are large Internet service providers from all regions of Ukraine, information centres as well as two national universities.

Currently, the UA-IX unites about 70 participants connected to six traffic exchange points, with an intensity of processed traffic of about 300 Mb/s.
